Helena Buurman, Ph.D.

I am a geophysicist, which means I am deeply interested in how the Earth works. I have written scientific papers on Alaska’s volcanic eruptions and earthquakes, and I have monitored landslides, tsunamis, glaciers, and even nuclear bomb tests. But my favorite part about being a scientist is collecting data from the most remote places in the Alaska. That’s where the best stories come from.
